SNOWY SPRING BREAK

Saturday, March 8, 2008

Yes, it does snow in Mississippi...though only once every 3 or 4 years! We actually got almost 2 inches of snow for the first time in several years. Of course, that means that just a couple hundred miles to the north of us, they got at least a foot of snow!

It is rare to see snow covering the branches of this evergreen of the south - the magnolia, which is Mississippi's state tree, shown above in our front yard on the left and top of the photo.

This is actually how our house looked when we woke up to the very first day of spring break!

By the way, spring break means a whole week off from teaching algebra at the high school for Rob, but it doesn't mean a trip to the beach this year. With Rob taking graduate courses, Carley trying to get caught up on some much-needed work, and both of us saving money for a summer road trip out west, we are not leaving town any time soon.

Likewise, it doesn't look like we'll be firing up the BBQ grill anytime soon!

Rowan says, "Who filled up my swing with all this white stuff?"

"And my slide too?!"
